What counts as a “message”?
A message is one thing the visitor sends in the chat. Friday's responses don't count. A visitor opening the chat and saying “take me to pricing” → that's 1 message. The reply, the navigation action she fires, the confirm bubble, the executed click — those are free.
When you hit your monthly cap, Friday pauses for the rest of the month with a polite “come back next month” message. No surprise bills.
Pricing FAQ
Can I change plans anytime?
Yes. Upgrade takes effect immediately; downgrade at the next billing cycle so you don't lose paid time.
Do unused messages roll over?
No. The free / paid quota resets on the calendar month boundary. Most workspaces use a small fraction of their quota.
What if I have multiple sites?
Pro and Scale support unlimited workspaces (one per site). Free is one workspace; create more by upgrading or running separate Free accounts.
Is there a free trial of paid features?
Pro features are in active rollout. Email support@starkspherelabs.com for early access while we're wiring up Stripe.
What about an annual discount?
Yes — annual billing knocks 20% off. Pro at $279/year, Scale at $948/year. Available when Stripe checkout goes live.
Open source / self-hosted option?
Not today. The widget code is source-available in the GitHub repo, but the backend (chat orchestration, catalogue, memory) is hosted. Reach out for self-hosted Scale arrangements.
